University of Central Lancashire

Case Study

When the university was looking to expand and adapt a former sports hall to create four lecture theatres and a medical centre within the Foster Building, Evertaut worked closely with HM Architecture on the project.

Our Diploma lecture theatre seating was specified for three of the new lecture theatres and fixed structural tiering was also commissioned for the same.

Conlon Construction were the preferred contractor and after obstacles such as additional ventilation duct work were overcome, final drawings were produced.

Manufacturing Process

Approximately 250m² of 50 x 50 sectional steel understructure/fixed tiering was manufactured. Deck boards were 25mm birch ply with a 12mm riser board.

All the tiering was tested to withstand 5KN/m² and designed to adhere to BS6399 – loading for buildings part 1, BS5950 – structual use of steelwork in buildings and BS5260 – structual use of timber.

400 Diploma seat units were manufactured in-house within three weeks using CMHR foams and Crib 5 Fabric that holds a 10 year manufacturer’s guarantee.

Evertaut’s skilled fitters worked onsite alongside Conlon Construction and completed the installation within the agreed timescale.
